Staff and clients of the Sunrise Adult Training Centre were recently treated to a gourmet Christmas dinner, compliments of their neighbour Ristorante Pappagallo, followed by special Christmas gifts presented by the Lions Club.

These events were a fitting year-end celebration for the national adult special-needs centre, which is located in Barkers, West Bay. The clients and staff recently celebrated Sunrise's 20th anniversary of operations, with activities that were well supported by the community. Concurrently, the centre also participated in the observances of the local Week of Persons with Disabilities, and the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Centre Director Roberta Gordon thanked the restaurant and the service club for hosting the Christmas event, saying, "Our sincere appreciation to you, and to the entire country, for the support provided over the past two decades - and especially during our anniversary celebrations.

"These social events are very important, for they show our clients that they have not been forgotten, and serve to improve our relationship with the country as a whole. The clients especially enjoy the contact with other members of the community, and we look forward to keeping their profile high in the minds and hearts of everyone," she added.
